2006: 11th Hungarian Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Festival. Hungary was one of the first central european countries where the LGBT movement was able to organize a festival and a pride walk. Since its low key beggining, the Hungarian LGBT festival has grown and now attracts several thousands of local and international participants. During the four days of the festival, the LGBT community will be able to enjoy more then 40 various activities, films, workshops and parties.
Pride Walk: Saturday the 24th of June 2006
The Pride Walk is the most important part of the festival. Gathering 3.00 pm at Felvonulasi Square ( located to the right of Hero's Square). Public Tranport: Take ther yellow Metro line to the terminal station Hosok Tere and walk 2 minutes. Opening speech: 3.30 pm. Start: 4 pm. End: 5.30 pm. Route Hosok Tere (Hero's Square) - Oktogon - Deak Ter - Astoria - Fovam ter -Buddha Beach. The Pride Walk is a demonstration which is fully protected by the Budapest police department. In all the 9 years that the walk has taken place, there never was any sort of violence.
Pride Walk Party: Saturday, the 24th of June 2006

One of the big changes this year is that the Pride walk will not cross over to the Buda side. Instead, it will end at the Buddha Beach (Kozraktar utca 9-11) where an outdoor party with speeches, live performances and music will take place. We are very happy to be able to close the Pride Walk at the Buddha Beach. Besides being in the heart of the city, it offers several advantages: Open air, spacious, enough bars and rest spaces and with an incredible panorama on the Danube. The party officially starts when the Pride walk arrives at the Buddha Beach, but the Beach will be open an hour before the planned arrival so that who did not take part in the walk can already come in.
Program: The Show starts at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm. Various assocations and businesses will be present at the Buddha Beach with information tables. This will give everyone the opportunity to get to know each other better. For those that don't have any place to go to before the evening Rainbow party (happening just next door), the Buddha Beach is the perfect place to wait it out. In case of rainy weather, a covered alternative space is planned. Coat check will be available. For those wanting to take a shower or change clothes, we recommend the saunas located nearby (Magnum Szauna, Szauna 69). Entrance fee: The entrance fee is 200 HUF. Those wanting to support the festival can purchase a 500 HUF supporter entrance ticket.
Parties
This year, we are especially happy to have found a great location for the festival's various parties: the Buddha Inside and Beach complex. That's one of Budapests biggest winter and summer club, located in the 9th district at Kozraktar u. 9-11. The Inside parts of the complex offer 5 various club experiences in different styles. The Beach part of the complex is a refreshing oasis right on the river Danube with majestic views of the Buda side. From the 22nd to the 25th of June, the complex will be our party home.
